Cookies Policy
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use our website, which helps us improve the site over time. It collects information such as the pages visited and time spent on each page, how you arrived at the site (for example, via a search engine or direct link), your approximate location at country or region level only, and the type of device and browser you are using. Google Analytics uses cookies to distinguish unique visitors and sessions, and the data collected is aggregated and anonymised rather than used to identify you personally. Google Tag Manager is the tool used to load Google Analytics on the site; it does not itself collect personal data but acts as a container through which analytics and other scripts are managed. For more information on how Google handles data collected through Analytics, visit https://policies.google.com/privacy.
We also use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use our website and to improve the site over time. Clarity collects information such as the pages visited and time spent on each page, how you arrived at the site, your approximate location at country or region level only, and the type of device and browser you are using. It captures how you use and interact with our website through behavioural metrics, heatmaps, and session replay to improve our content. This website usage data is captured using first and third-party cookies and other tracking technologies to determine the popularity of products and services and online activity, and we also use this information for site optimisation and fraud and security purposes. For more information on how Microsoft Clarity uses and protects collected data, visit the Microsoft Privacy Statement at https://www.microsoft.com/privacy/privacystatement.
The website includes the UserWay accessibility widget, which appears as a small icon in the corner of the page and allows visitors to adjust the appearance of the site to suit their accessibility needs, such as changing font size, contrast, or enabling a screen reader. UserWay may store a cookie on your device to remember your accessibility preferences between visits; this is a functional cookie used solely to improve your experience on the site. UserWay also sends anonymised usage data back to its own servers to improve the service. For more information about UserWay and how it handles data, visit https://userway.org/privacy.
The website includes a newsletter subscription form in the footer where you can provide your email address to receive updates from Wingecarribee Libraries. If you choose to subscribe, your email address is collected and stored for the purpose of sending you library news and updates. Your email address will not be shared with third parties, and you can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in any email we send you.
Personal Information and Privacy
Where information collected through cookies constitutes personal information, Council will manage this information in accordance with the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW), the Health Records and Information Privacy Act 2002 (NSW), and Council’s Privacy Management Plan. Council is committed to handling personal information in an open and transparent manner and only for purposes directly related to Council functions and activities.
Third-Party Services
Council may use third-party service providers to support website functionality and analytics. These providers may collect and process information in accordance with their own privacy policies.
