Sydney Writers’ Festival – September Streams

Join us on Friday 25 September for a day of Sydney Writers’ Festival Homegrown playbacks!

Couldn’t make it to Sydney? Don’t worry – come to Bowral as we playback some of the talks that occurred.

10AM-11AM: Angry Millennials

  • Join angry millennial writers Amy Thunig-McGregor, Jack Toohey and Fiona Wright as they discuss the housing crisis as a defining experience for a generation. In conversation with Patrick Lenton.

11:15AM-12:15PM: Shining a Light

  • Join esteemed writers and teachers Emily Perkins and Charlotte Wood as they share practical tips and inspiring advice for writers at any stage of their practice. With Ailsa Piper.

1PM-2PM: The Future of Democracy: Australia in the 21st Century

  • Join political analyst and author of Three Shocks George Megalogenis in conversation with Nick Bryant and Rosalind Dixon about the jolts that have reshaped the Australian political landscape.

2:15PM-3:15PM: ABC Radio National’s top 100 Australian Books: First Nations edition

  • Revel in outstanding, powerful and original literature as writers Bruce Pascoe, Kirli Saunders and Melanie Saward share their favourite First Nations books with ABC Radio National’s Awaye! host Rudi Bremer.

3:30PM-4:30PM: Meet Cute and Queer

  • Join writers Joshua Hortinela and Patrick Lenton as they discuss their Australian rom-coms putting a queer lens on classic romance tropes. In conversation with Madeleine Gray.
